Three new modern shows slated for latest Wareham Media programming
Ever wondered what “Dancing with the Stars” would be like in Wareham? What about a show like “60 Minutes”? If so, then look no further than Wareham Media’s latest program.
Wareham Originals aims to produce modern television shows with a local spin in an effort to modernize Wareham Media’s programming and expand its volunteer network.
“People want engaging T.V. shows like the ones they are watching on big national networks which local access stations don’t typically make,” said Vice President of the Wareham Media Board of Directors and program Executive Director Indiana Troupe.
Unlike their typical programming, the three shows slated to premiere in June are almost entirely produced by volunteers with training Wareham Media staff. Troupe said volunteers will have the opportunity to do everything from screen writing to acting in front of the camera.
The three shows Troupe said are planned include a Wareham version of “Dancing with the Stars”, pairing eight local people with dance professionals to battle it out on the floor, “30 Minutes”, modeled after the news program “60 Minutes” for news style interviews and “The Next Wareham”, a documentary series exploring the future of town.
So far, Troupe said there are over 10 volunteers signed up to produce these shows which are scheduled to run from June to August.
Moving forward, Troupe said one of the challenges the program faces is figuring out the best way to produce each show with a small number of media professionals and volunteers.
“It’s a daunting feat but we want to give people experience in media that have been wanting to get involved,” he said. “That includes students, adults, retirees and anyone who wants to try being on television.”
Increasing Wareham Media’s volunteer network is not the program’s only goal. Troupe said he hopes the program can change people’s perception of local access television and what it can produce.
“Anyone can be involved, anyone can watch and it can be interesting,” he said. “[Local television] is not just event postings and government meeting recaps.”
Anyone interested in getting involved has until the end of March to reach out to the email info@warehamoriginals.org or visit www.tinyurl.com/wo2026recruiting.
Troupe said onboarding and training sessions for volunteers will begin in April at Wareham Media’s studio, 505 Main Street and at filming sites.
