Louis H. Figueira, 73, of Wareham died Jan. 1 at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Julia M. (DaSilva) Figueira.

Born in Sao Miguel, Portugal, Mr. Figueira was the son of the late Manuel and Evangelina (Rapoza) Figueira. He was a previous resident of Somerville before moving to Wareham.

Mr. Figueira was a carpenter for the Walter E. Fernald State School for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and Boston sports teams.

Survivors include his wife, Julia M. Figueira; his children, Paula Haley and her husband Alan of Tewksbury, and Glen Figueira, Steve Figueira and Leslie Figueira all of Wareham. Also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin and Megan Haley, Shyanne Gavaza, Elijah Figueira and Julia Figueira.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m.
