Band looks to bring porchfest to Onset
Wareham-based band Goat Jam are looking to bring an iteration of the popular porchfest music festival series to Onset.
Porchfests are hosted across Massachusetts and the country with residents hosting bands to set up and play live music outside their homes. Some municipalities, like Somerville, bring in hundreds of bands each year for a day of free shows in neighborhood yards and porches.
The group piloted the festival with a four-hour backyard show at Shell Point on Sunday, June 28 with Massachusetts-based acts King Zappow, Beach Plum Jam and Goat Jam performing. According to organizer Mark Blaze, the group had multiple homes interested in hosting live music for the festival. They plan to repeat a test run of porchfest in another Onset neighborhood before organizing an Onset-wide version sometime in the future.
Blaze wrote that several dozen people showed up for Sunday's backyard concert and that the group considered the pilot run a "success."
