Batter up: The Gatemen heading to the playoffs
Closing out the regular season against the Hyannis Hawks with a 3 to 0 win, the Gatemen are heading to the playoffs.
Ending their four-game losing streak, the Gatemen ended up as the number two seed for the playoffs. The Gatemen will host the third seed Cotuit Kettleers Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.
for round one of the 2025 Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs at Spillane Field.
The best of three series could conclude Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. with round two at Lowell Park in Cotuit.
If both teams score one win, the two teams will meet up one final time Thursday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. back at Spillane.
The Gatemen have seen success beyond securing a playoff spot as the winners of the 2025 Commissioner's Cup, a feat the team hasn't seen since 2012.
The Commissioner’s Cup is awarded by the Cape Cod Baseball League to the team that shows organizational excellence. From players, coaches, interns, host families and volunteers the award honors those who contribute to the integrity of the league.
General Manager of the Gatemen Jay Spinale has also been awarded "General Manager of the Year" for the Cape League 2025.
President of the Executive Committee Glen Hannington gave his congrats to the team and to Spinale.
"On behalf of the entire Gatemen organization it is well deserved due to your hard work and dedication year round so Congratulations! Let's go Gatemen!" Hannington said.
