Lucky Goat Brewing works to meet funding goal

Feb 6, 2020

Lucky Goat Brewing, the brewery and tap room planning to open on Main Street, is making strides in both licensing and construction as they work to raise funds.

The brewery has received a federal license to brew beer, and has applied for a state license.

The entrepreneurs have also begun purchasing equipment, and obtained a demolition permit from the town to continue work on the old fish market that will be transformed into a brewery and tap room.

While the venture is largely self-funded, the company is seeking funding through a site called Mainvest, which allows individuals to invest in the brewery with a set return on their investment. For example, if a company's return on investment rate was set at 50 percent, someone who invests $100 will be paid back $150 in quarterly installments. If the investment is not paid back by a set date, like the end of 2026, the remaining amount due is paid to the investor.

So far, Lucky Goat has raised more than $36,000 towards their goal of $50,000. The team is looking to meet that goal by the end of February.
