UPDATE: Man dies in Onset Avenue car crash
A Plymouth man died and a woman was taken to the hospital after a rollover car accident on Onset Avenue late Sunday night, according to Wareham Police.
Police have not yet released the identity of the man in the crash but the victim is believed to be 42-year-old Christian Iacobucci of Plymouth. Iacobucci was the lead singer of the hip-hop group Woodland Creatures, who played many shows at the Fan Club in Wareham.
The Woodland Creatures Facebook page as well as signage at Stevie B's Sports Resort in Onset have expressed condolences in regards to Iacobucci's death.
Police said when officers arrived on the scene at around 11:30 p.m. they saw a woman sitting outside the car with injuries to her face while an unconscious man was still inside the car.
Iacobucci was treated by Onset Fire Department and Wareham EMS personnel for serious injuries. Police said the accident involved the vehicle overturning several times as it traveled east on Onset Avenue.
The sedan reportedly struck a tree and then a light post before coming to rest on the side of the roadway at around 173 Onset Avenue.
The man was taken to Tobey Hospital by Wareham EMS, where he later died as a result of his injuries. The identity of the man is being withheld at this time, due to pending notification of family members.
The other passenger in the car was also taken to Tobey Hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said investigation of the accident is ongoing and further information will be provided when it becomes available.
